I met a wonderful man whom I married about 18 years ago. Initially, he didn’t tick many boxes on my (unqualified) checklist, but he was a great guy who made me laugh nearly every day. He turned out to be a loving and supportive husband and an amazing father to my daughter. However, after a massive shift in our lives, we began to struggle and sadly we divorced after 14 years of marriage. We are still good friends and he continues to inspire me as a wonderful parent.

I focused on life as a working mum, growing my matchmaking business but explored the single life that I was being paid to rescue people from everyday. It was a reality check and completely changed my perspective on how complex it can be for successful people to navigate the waters of singlehood. Those two years as a mature single adult in these modern times, were probably the most influential to my life as a guide for people in search of love.

Then one day I ran into Andy. Andy and I had a brief affair 24 years earlier, when we were young adults before traveling and living for many years overseas. These were the days before social media so it was easier for someone to slip out of your life. We had both married and had children and both were married for 14 years.

Andy and I ended up returning to Sydney at different times and would run into each other from time to time, despite the fact that we worked in different industries and had no common friends. I promised myself that, after NOT saying hello the last time I saw him in a shopping mall, that I would say something, even if I was walking out of a sweaty spin class when it happened. Then… there he was, standing right in front of me in Westfield. We reconnected and have been together ever since.

Was there magic? Well… yes there was in a sense. But the most significant contributor to the exciting, adventurous, symbiotic and passionate relationship we now enjoy, is the experience we acquired on our love journeys. Years of travel, education, adventures, mistakes, tragedies. Years of psychologists, self development training, and the journey through decades of success and failure in several relationships, primed us to design and harness our incredible lives together.

It is all of these years of trial and error combined with my education and experience matching literally thousands of successful couples that I bring to you in my podcast, training and support as a matchmaker. I have watched thousands of couples do it right and 10’s of thousands do it wrong.
